Imprint
Imprint is a special exhibition at Norse Art Space dedicated to Cory Knedler, who recently stepped down as Chair of the Art Department at the University of South Dakota after more than 25 years of service. Cory has played a foundational role in shaping both the department and the broader South Dakota art community through his teaching, mentorship, and creative leadership.
The title Imprint references his background in printmaking, but it also speaks to the profound and lasting mark he’s left on the regional arts landscape. The exhibition is both a celebration and a thank-you—honoring the influence he’s had on generations of artists, colleagues, and students.
The show features work by current USD faculty as well as alumni whose practices have been shaped by Cory’s presence over the years. Some works are collaborations that include Cory himself, while others incorporate his image or engage with themes that speak to his legacy. The range of media is wide and intentional—painting, design, sculpture, printmaking, photography, and digital projection—highlighting the variety of voices that have emerged from the community he helped foster. Imprint is a reminder that art spaces can also be spaces of gratitude, reflection, and connection.
On view thru July, 2025
